Trayvon Martin: Miami Herald Reveals George Zimmerman's Myspace Page

MySpace has become a relic, but it still houses personal webpages that users created long before Facebook became a reality. As the Miami Herald reports, George Zimmerman, the killer of Trayvon Martin, never deleted his account. The page contains interesting commentary. The Miami Herald summarizes some of the content:
“I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft ass wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around (what are you provin, that you can dent a car when no ones watchin) dont make you a man in my book. . . . Workin 96 hours to get a decent pay check, gettin knifes pulled on you by every mexican you run into!”

Another line suggested his friends went to jail and did not rat him out. “They do a year and dont ever open thier mouth to get my ass pinched.”
The blog section boasts about having two felonies knocked down to misdemeanors and describes a court battle with an ex-girlfriend. Zimmerman faced two felonies in 2005 for obstructing justice and battery on a law enforcement officer, but the cases were reduced to misdemeanor simple battery, and he was left with no criminal conviction on his record.
Zimmerman described the ex-girlfriend as his "ex-hoe."

What Does This Mean?
I am not sold that these types of pages really mean much in terms of guilt or innocence.Yet, many of Zimmerman's supporters cited Trayvon Martin's Twitter feed and a Facebook page belonging to another teenager who shares his name in order to portray him as a young, violent thug. I wonder how these same folks will react to Zimmerman's unflattering MySpace page. My guess: DIFFERENTLY.

Frankly, I am surprised the webpage remained on the Internet for such a long period of time. Zimmerman's lawyer has now instructed him to erase his Internet history, which is precisely how I would advise a live-wire client like Zimmerman.

Not really.

"They do a year and dont ever open thier mouth to get my ass pinched."

Indicates he could have been involved in some kind of minor felony, but nothing related to violence if it was a year.

"I dont miss driving around scared to hit mexicans walkin on the side of the street, soft ass wanna be thugs messin with peoples cars when they aint around (what are you provin, that you can dent a car when no ones watchin) dont make you a man in my book. He obviously didn't have any love for Mexican Hoodlums in his town who were damaging cars and robbing people, but he doesn't say that he did anything criminal. Just that he is glad he doesn't have to avoid that criminal element.

"2 felonies dropped to 1 misdemeanor!!!!!!!!!!! The man knows he was wrong but still got this hump"

The 'man' being the law, he is stating he wasn't guilty of either charge but he still got a misdemeanor charge out of it.

"Im still free! The ex hoe tried her hardest, but the judge saw through it! "

Clearly he is stating that his ex tried to lie but the judge saw through her lies.

Nothing really incriminating or relevant there especially as all of this is 6 years ago and he has a clean record since then.

More importantly, it shows he was raised in an urban, diverse environment with Black friends, and not the environment that would make you a racist against Black people.

At most it shows that he was exposed to an environment where crimes occurred early on which would make him more weary and distrusting of it. Couple that with a spat of burglaries? Yeah, I'd say he had a right to be suspicious of someone walking in the rain looking at houses weeks after a break in where the perp had a similar modus operandi and got away.

What do you mean by "not really," Jaime? If you read the blog, it does not accuse Zimmerman of anything.

I understand what he is saying. I don't think that's great language to use with respect to Mexicans thugs? Is he only afraid of Mexicans?

Also - race is not a necessary element of the crime of second-degree murder. So, whether he is a racist is irrelevant.

Also - the misdemeanors do not say he is innocent. He just got deferred adjudication - which means he accepted the lower charges, did anger management and got his record cleared. This is available in most states, especially for first offenders.

Finally, your argument that he had a right to be suspicious is based on Zimmerman's testimony. Even if it were true (Trayvon was looking up at houses), this does not justify confronting an individual. It ABSOLUTELY cannot justify using lethal force.

If you want to learn more about the standards for self-defense under Florida law, I have written several. If you don't trust me, look elsewhere.

Crimes happen in my city (DC) as well. A reasonable person calls the cops. An idiot handles things himself. Zimmerman is an idiot. His MySpace page proves that -- not his guilt.

Jaime, your spin on GZ's MySpace excerpts are creative, but ultimately upon the slightest application of common sense, your explanations are almost as reprehensible as his comments.

Not only do the comments reveal a deep rooted hatred and bias against other Hispanics (let alone African Americans), but they also confirm what has become patently obvious to even casual but objective observers of this tragedy- and that is- GZ has an above the law complex that resurfaces time and time and time again.

Unfortunately for TM it resurfaced when TM happened to have the temerity to be walking home from a 7-11 store.

GZ's mindset and actions as they relate to minorities are evident of kowtowing gestures to the sick element of our society who craves for the good ole days when such atrocities were backed by the rule of law.
