The BP oil leak has stopped, according to the Washington Post:
BP said Thursday that it has stopped oil from leaking out of its blown-out well in the Gulf of Mexico. The gusher has been throttled for the first time since the April 20 blowout on the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon.
Engineers now have to determine whether the cap can hold. Officials have not yet determined whether this is a permanent fix.

A few things:

1. "BP said"? Have they been honest once in this whole clusterf---? I am not about vilifying them just to have a bad guy to blame. They just seem to have repeatedly chosen the less moral (and dumbest) course at every turn in this whole thing and repetedly lied and attempted to mislead the public. Can we get some independent confirmation?

2. Do we know if they have stopped drilling the relief wells now?

3. Thanks for answering almost all the questions that came to mind about the permanency of this when my friend announced this news on FB yesterday.

Have you heard about the "BP Makes Me Sick" movement and their efforts to force BP to allow the clean-up workers in the Gulf to use respirators?
