Heckler Apologizes for Outburst

Last night, Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina apparently believed he was attending a townhall meeting on healthcare, rather than a special session of Congress. While President Obama disputed the persistent claim that healthcare reform would cover illegal immigrants, Wilson shouted "you lie." Wilson subsequently apologized, but stood by his repudiated position:

This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.
Awful.

no common sense, they acted very immature. Other than the morons, it was a great speech and I was proud!!

Sue: This guy was an aide to Strom Thurmond when he was younger. He grew up in the 50s in South Carolina. I am not confident that this was your average inappropriate outburst during an important nationally televised policy speech delivered by a sitting president to Congress. :)

Wilson is a brainless GOP tool, judging by his record.

But there is a satisfying P.S. to his outburst: as AP reports, within hours after Obama's speech, more than 5,000 people donated over $200,000 to Wilson's Democratic opponent in SC.
