Blago Impeachment: What Would Lincoln Do?

We have all heard a lot of Lincoln references associated with Obama's candidacy and election, but this one is perhaps the most peculiar. According to the New York Times, prosecutors in the Blagojevich case have asked the Illinois legislature to postpone impeaching the governor because this could compromise their investigation. Representative Monique Davis, however, insisted that the impeachment process must proceed because Illinois needs clarity: "It’s the Land of Lincoln . . . It’s the land of Barack Obama." What would Lincoln do?

rsiLet's see. Would he lay low durring the transition,
not wiegh in on devisive social issues and then finally
speak up on Blagojevich of all topics? And not to support the rule of law but the rule of majority opinion in his own party. What a circus.
Gay dems for Blago I say. Had he made this appointment a month ago all of the party leaders, despite their knowledge of his coruption,
would have been wiping tears from thier eyes at the
momentousness of the occasoin and welcoming their
new colleague. I imagine Blaago saying "oh yeah,
split this Abe!" Just a thought. Not to divide the
house or anything.

I have had it with the those who treat Mr. Obama as if he has much in common with either Mr. Lincoln or Martin Luther King, Jr. Perhaps, when Mr. Obama actually DOES something other than win an election - using some pretty dirty tricks along the way - and give platforms to homophobes and sexists (Rick Warren, Jon Favreau), he will merit such lofty and favorable comparisons.

I am no fan of Blagojevich, but I think he has called out Mr. Obama's and Mr. Reid's double - and triple - standards marvelously.
