Breaking News: Obama to Fill All Cabinet Positions with Elderly Sunday School Teachers!!!

I could never get a job in the Obama administration -- despite having a pretty solid resume (from my perspective) and a passionate commitment to social justice. I could never pass the invasive background test the president-elect is utilizing to screen potential employees. According to a recent article in the New York Times, Obama is requiring all applicants to complete a 7-page application requesting loads of personal information -- including all emails, blog postings, entries on Facebook and any other web homepages (like Match.Com), whether the information appears in the applicant's real name or as an alias. The application also requests the contents of applicants' personal diaries if they contain potentially embarrassing information. But what's the point of secreting your inner-most thoughts in a diary if they are not salacious and potentially embarrassing? The only people who will pass this test are elderly Sunday School teachers, who do not know how to use the web and who were too busy raising kids, grandchildren and caring for spouses to do or think anything that would embarrass Obama!

This blog alone would doom my chances to work for President Obama. But that is fine. I think I am much better suited for life outside of government. Someone has to provide a check and balance, and a lot of my colleagues have retired from that business since the GOP imploded.

You definitely won't get one of those jobs if you don't apply...

My guess is Obama wants everything out in the open, but that he won't discount someone's application if it isn't squeaky clean. Who knows though...

Thanks anonymous....for the vote of confidence (?). I imagine they just want to know what kind of "dirt" is out there as well -- so no surprises during confirmation hearings. But like I said, my anxiety is really just puffery, because I really love being an academic and having a freer voice! I could not run a blog in an Obama administration, and I probably could not do the same type of law review writing. So, I'll stick to my life as a prof.

LOL - Unfortunately my guess is that the 7-page app is just for show. I would hope that it isn't, but I've been fooled too many times to hold out for too much 'hope'.

I just 'hope' Obama doesn't accumulate too many 'bennie' points from actions such as this from the media etal, that it'll deflect criticism later on more serious issues.

Time will only tell, but will anyone care then, if I'm correct or not !!

I've been a Sunday school teacher but I have used an alias, I do keep a journal but not a diary - it is more portable and better stored as memory anyway... perhaps I will apply just to go through the process. -- My analysis here is that every move and every step is planned, calculated and a deliberate act. Mr. Obama is being hyper vigilant, - my guess ~ because his actions and choices will come under rich scrutiny as America's first Black President and he and his handlers will be beyond anal in assuring that his decisions will remains impeccable (or "un"-impeachable).

Are you ELDERLY? LOL! And yes- he has good reason to be unimpeachable, especially with all of the Clintonites he's picking and the anger the GOP will soon display.
